MONARCHS….MONARCHS…MONARCHS……………..They
are on vacation in
WE LOVE BUTTERFLIES!
Studying
the Monarch is our duty as
5th
and 6th grade SCIENCE
All 5th
and 6th graders participated in a conservation effort to help
provide an environmental habitat which attracts the Monarch. Because of their efforts, we got to see one
of nature’s miracles right in our own school yard. As they stopped by to sip nectar in our
garden, the Monarchs paused to enrich our lives with their beauty and spirit of
freedom. We are pleased to be an
official WAYSTATION for Monarch feeding here in

PLEASE NOTE:
…………………………………………
We have tagged and
documented over 180+ butterflies so far!
GREAT job! Keep raising these
precious butterflies!!
Together we can make a difference in the earth’s environment! Our tiny part……with other caring humans, may just be what they need to survive an ever-changing environment! Good job kids!!!!!
EAGLES:
What great lessons we had on the American Bald Eagle. Observing it in its
natural habitat gave us all a treat. The environment at the Mississippi
River gave us a wonderful view of their life in NATURE! The lessons
learned from the scientists presenting were excellent as well. The live
bird show was equally exciting and informative. The kids enjoyed the
field trip.
SCIENCE
TRIVIA………….
QUESTION: WHERE do the MONARCHS go in the WINTER?
ANSWER????? Someone needs to submit an answer for a
treat!
READ THIS!!!!!!
AMAZING………on
Friday February 12, students came into the room to find a BLACKSWALLOWTAIL
butterfly in Room 9. The case containing
the pupas from fall had never made it to the outside cold in order to hibernate
for the winter. Because of the WARMTH of
the room………it thought it was SPRING and EMERGED!!!!!! Mrs. Bice made the
statement, “Boy, do I ever wish I had some flowers to feed it nectar,
especially daisies would do the trick”……within the time of several minutes, a
bouquet of flowers was delivered to Rm 9 to Mrs. Bice from her son, for Valentine’s Day. WOWO! Guess you have to be careful what you wish
for!!!!! The butterfly is going home
with vials of sugar water, flowers and the hope that it lives through the trip
in the cold on the way home! WHAT A
VALENTINE SURPRISE!!!!!!
His name is VALENTINO!!!!!!
