Students may use several resources to find the common and scientific names for their bugs.  The library contains several books on insects.  I also have several books on insects in my room.  The internet is also a possibility for identification.   If your student finds a good web site it is suggested that they share it with the rest of the class for additional points (5 points).

III.   Grading

            A.  The project will be one fifth of the first quarter grade. Failure to complete the project will cause your student to fail the quarter.

            B.  Each bug is worth 1 point, each card is worth 4 points (1 point each  for the bug number, common bug name, scientific bug name, time collected and location).

Parent Verification Note

To all seventh grade science students and their parents,

It is time to start the seventh grade bug collections.  This is a very important project therefore it is worth one fifth of your students first quarter grade.  The due date for this project will be September 30th.  I would suggest that your student begin to collet the bugs now and identify them as they go.  As the weather gets cooler it will become harder and harder for your student to find the bugs.  I will keep their collections until we cover the unit on insects later this semester.  Please sign and return this form to me by the 13th of September and your student will receive an additional 5 bonus points to their grade.
