Class Highlights  We have been reading many books and poems about bears. We have learned characteristics about the polar bear, brown bear, black bear, and panda bear. The students made a bear cave. It has been used for expressing ideas we have learned about bears. Check out our bulletin board about bears.

The students have been using props and masks to act out Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Ask them to share this story with you.

Supplies We are running low on glue sticks and wet wipes. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.

100 Day was last Tuesday and the students participated in activities with the PreK class. We counted, weighed , and ate 100 things. Stories and a poem were shared about 100 Day. We had been anticipating this celebration all year. It was fun for all, students and teachers.

Book Orders   If you want to order a book this month please return the order slip with payment byFebruary 5th. Checks may be made to Scholastic Book Club.

Family Activity Bags

If you would like your child to bring home an activity bag, please sign the attached permission slip. The bag is a learning tool to be used by the student, with adult supervision, as a family activity. Please supervise the use of all the materials to be sure everything is returned and in usable condition. I want many children to have the opportunity to experience the Family Activity Bags.

The bags will be checked out on Friday and please return by the next Thursday. Thank you for your participation.

Upcoming Events

Thursday, Feb. 14th will be Valentine’s Day and we will be exchanging Valentines. Each child is to bring a Valentine to give to every other member of the class. If you need help getting valentines, please let me know. It is important that the Valentine has the name of the child it is for on the outside, and the name of the child it is from on the inside. Let your child help as much as possible. The students can copy their classmates names from a model with a little guidance. Since this is a big task, don’t try to do all the Valentines at one time.  Do a few at a time and have your child sign their Valentines. All the Valentines need to be at school no later than Tuesday, Feb. 12th. The students will deliver to each students folder. This is a great learning activity but it takes time. If the valentines are here early we have time to “make the deliveries”. Your child will bring home a class list of names for addressing valentines.

Soon you will be receiving information about a special activity night. Details will come later.
