Keyboarding/Formatting 1B

The programs that are being used are:  MicroType and Key Champ both by South-Western Educational Publishing and Microsoft Word.

It is very important for the students to use the correct techniques in all their keyboard use.  If they use the correct techniques while working on other school projects, leisure activities, etc., it provides an excellent practice and reinforcement for Keyboarding/Word Processing.

Each student has a copy of the Technique Evaluation.  Please use it at home and evaluate your son/daughter as they practice.  This will let you see what areas they might need extra work on.

Each student should have a binder or folder to keep their handouts and sample problems.  They need to bring this to class each day so they can use it as a reference guide.  I check them periodically.  This is part of their grade.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please email me at kembled@westprairie.org.

The best time to call me is 7:30 – 7:50.   (309-456-3750)

There is homework this semester.  Several students have not been doing the homework and studying adequately for tests and projects.   Ask your student frequently if they have homework for this class.   Also, ask your student what their grade is.  I give them their grades weekly.   Feel free to contact me if you have questions.

We have upgraded our computer lab.  It is wonderful.  The district purchased 19 new computers.  They went into Mr. Sullivan’s room.  The old ones out of his room are now in my room.  They are several years newer than what was in here.  So, they are new to us.   We are certainly enjoying them.
