Scholarships           

 

 The following are scholarship opportunities that have come in to the Guidance Office.  Seniors are encouraged to check with the Guidance Office and listen to announcements.  See Mrs. Kuras if you have questions, need further information, or would like an application. 

 

The W.I.U. Residential Scholar Program awards 125 room scholarships to freshmen & transfer students, with outstanding academic credentials.  Valedictorians & salutatorians are automatically eligible.  Recipients will receive a room cost waiver for a double room in a dorm, and must agree to live in a dorm their sophomore year.  These are offered on a continuing basis until May 1st.

 

The Jim Miner Scholarship is for students who plan to attend WIU in the fall.  Applicants must have at least a 3.0 GPA, and have been involved in high school athletics or student activities.  The deadline for this $1,000 scholarship is May 1st.

 

The Edward Arthur Mellinger Educational Foundation offers grants to students in western Illinois and eastern Iowa.  Students must request an application.  Go to www.mellinger.org.  May 1st is the deadline.

 

The Excellence in Agriculture Scholarship Program will award ten $2,500 scholarships to students who enroll in an ag or ag-related program in Illinois.  Applicants must have at least a 2.75 (7.6 or above on an 11.0 scale).  May 15th is the deadline.

 

The McDonough County Republican Women Scholarship is open to female seniors, who are residents of McDonough County, and planning to attend an Illinois 4-year College/University or Illinois Community College.  The deadline for this $500 scholarship is May 15th.
