Sketchbook Assignment : Complete your choice of the
last
four sketchbook assignments! There should be a total of 16.
Art 1~ Rhythm principle of design
Students will be creating a work of art based on the
imagery that comes
to mind while listening to a
song by “Sigure Ros”. Students will be
choosing the materials that will be
express their project.
Step1 ~ students will need to listen to the music and
jot down ideas that
come to mind.
Step 2~ students will need choose a material that
will best express their
ideas.
Step 3~ students will listen to the music while
creating a project of their
own.

As
students complete their Rhythm project they will have the
opportunity to create an independent
project that will have to be
completed by the end of the semester.
·
May
6th & 7th ~ Class will be having Final Critiques
·
May
9th ~ Will be devoted to end of the year clean
up.
·
May
12th, 13th & 14th will be devoted to
reviewing for the Final Exam
Art 2 ~ Gothic
Students will be constructing a cathedral or
residential property that they
have designed by using foam
board.
Step 1~ students will need to choose a style of
architecture to work with
Step 2~ students will need to draw out their building
including the front,
top and side view.
Step 3~ students will measure out their dimensions
and begin cutting
their project out of foam board.
Final Project: Art History students will receive their
packets on
Renaissance / Baroque, 20th Century,
Asian, Oceanic and African
art history on April 7th.
Students will need to choose a Subject for their
final project by April 11th. The project will be due on May 14th
for non-
seniors.

13th & 14th will be devoted to reviewing for the
Final Exam
Art ¾ ~ Serial Painting
Students will be creating a Serial Painting based on
a story they would
like to share. A work of art will need to chosen from an
artist that can
be found in a class book or
online. The painting you choose must
have
a human figure in it that will
be replaced by someone in your classroom
or with yourself. Five paintings will need to be added to the
original
work of art that you will be
studying from.
Step 1~ choose a work of art to recreate
Step 2~ decide if you will be drawing yourself or a
classmate
Step 3~ choose a story to work with. Real or fictional.
Step 4~ sketch out your idea in your sketchbook
Step 5~ draw out your shapes on the
matt-board to have them cut
Step 6~ gesso your matt-board
Step 7~ draw out your project
Step 8~ paint your project
We will be having a critique on Feb. 29th
on completed Ind. Projects

May

Graphic Arts
Students have begun working with Illustrator. For their Final Project
they will be watching Final
Fantasy VII ~ which is the best example of
Computer Generated Imagery available today. From this
film they will
base their design for a fictional
creature.
Step1~ draw out 4-6 thumbnails of your ideas
Step2~ choose your most successful one and draw out
your project
in full scale in your
sketchbook.
Step3~ draw out 4-6 ideas for your negative space
Step4~ we will be scanning your images so that you
may complete
your project in Illustrator CS2
