Friday 3/5/10—3rd Quarter Book Project due (7th/8th Literature classes only)—biography/autobiography interview questions

3rd Quarter Project

For your third quarter project, I want you to read a biography or an autobiography and complete the following project.

1.     Character Interview: Choose a character in your book and formulate a list of 15-20 questions that you would ask that character.  Be creative when asking the questions and make certain that they are open ended questions (elicits more than a yes/no response).  Do not simply ask where they live and what they do.  Those are not good interview questions.  A good question may ask what their motive was when they acted a certain way, or how their personal background influences how they act.  Along with creating those questions, you must generate responses for each question that you come up with.  Each response should be at least a paragraph in length (4-6 sentences) and should be written in complete sentences.  Use the text when creating your responses to support your answers.

Extra Credit Opportunity for this project (20 points possible):  If you would like a chance to earn extra credit for this project, you could do the interview in front of the class.  Get together with someone and have that friend be the interviewer and you be the character from the book.  I said that there need to be 15-20 questions; however, for this I only want you to present 5-7 of those questions.  If you’re going to do this, I expect it to be excellent.  You could dress up as your character and impersonate them.  If they’re British, speak with an accent.  If they were an athlete, try to wear some team apparel.  Be creative!

3rd Quarter Checkpoints:

·        Book Approval Form due Wednesday January 20, 2010 (10 points)

·        Summary of Book (to be written in class) due Monday February 8, 2010 (10 points)
