School:  West Prairie High School is a public four-year comprehensive high school, located one mile south of Sciota.  This is the fourth year of consolidation of the former Northwestern Dist. #175 (NW) and Colchester District #180 (CHS) school districts.

Accreditation:  West Prairie is fully accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education.

Calendar:  The school year is divided into two semesters (18 weeks).  Students are in attendance for 176 days.  There are seven 52-minute academic periods in a day (excluding lunch).      

Graduation Requirements:  Students must complete 22 credits for graduation, including the following:

·          All classes receive one (1) credit per year, except Band receives .6 credit, Chorus receives .4 credit, and Drivers’ Ed & Health receive .25 credit per year.

·          Vocational classes through Western Area Career System are each worth 2 credits per/yr.  

·          Semester Exams count for 20% of the grade.

All courses will receive one-half credit per semester (except band, chorus, driver’s ed, & health).  Computation of the grade-point average will be on an 11.0 scale, effective with the consolidation.
